The 2012 Inclusive Wealth Report was featured in a number of news outlets worldwide and was among the most-featured publication in Rio+20 reporting.
TIME Magazine hailed the Inclusive Wealth Report 2012 as an “impressive research project,” and “the first serious attempt to measure total wealth of the planet’s richest countries.”
The Economist praised the effort to create a more precise economic indicator.
“Gauging an economy by its GDP is like judging a company by its quarterly profits, without ever peeking at its balance-sheet. Happily, the United Nations published balance-sheets for 20 nations in a report overseen by Sir Partha Dasgupta of Cambridge University.”
The Huffington Post welcomed the new indicator in an article titled “Goodbye GDP, Hello IWI”, where it labeled GDP accounting methods as “dubious” and commended the index’s effort to “rectify” this.
