Pablo Fuentenebro earned his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2011. His dissertation focused on the cultural dimension of urbanization, looking at the different ways that cities use architecture and cultural infrastructures to promote urban growth and regional development. During this time he worked as Teaching Fellow, Teaching Associate and Assistant in the Department of Geography and at the UCLA International Institute.

In 2012 he joined the United Nations University International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (UNU-IHDP) to assist in the elaboration of the Inclusive Wealth Report 2012. As Project Assistant for the report, Dr. Fuentenebro played a key role overseeing different aspects of the project, including successfully securing the report's publisher, Cambridge University Press, and negotiating open access for the report online. He also served as liaison to the authors, the Science Management Unit and the UN University’s Procurement unit.

Along with Dr. Duraiappah, Dr. Fuentenebro is also coauthor to one of the chapters of the report, “Conclusion: Lessons, findings, and recommendations”.

At present he is working as Associate Programme Officer for the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, in the Environmental Education and Training Unit, Division of Environmental Policy Implementation.
