Juan Sebastian Lozano is an ecologist from Javeriana University in Colombia. He worked with Fundación Natura for one year doing socioeconomic analysis of farms to be certified by the Rainforest Alliance as coffee plantations. This analysis included spatial modeling to prioritize areas for conservation activities in order to prevent contamination to nearby streams. After, he worked identifying most likely areas of presence for bird species in Colombia using Maxent modeling for the Red List of Birds of Colombia. Lozano also worked in Javeriana University analyzing  the distribution of three invasive plant species in Colombia. Currently, he works for The Nature Conservancy as an Ecosystem Services GIS specialist, focusing on Waterfunds, a novel strategy that aims to protect important areas for water quality and flow, financed by users of this ecosystem service.
